Sapphire Dome
A sapphire dome is a transparent protective window cover made of sapphire. Coligh manufactures various types of sapphire domes, such as domed crowns, hemispheres, super hemispheres, and cut-out domes.
- Feature exceptionally high Mohs hardness
- Strong impact resistance
- Over 99% transmittance
- Excellent corrosion and high-temperature resistance.
Large Diameter Sapphire Dome Sapphire Dome Description
Coligh specializes in producing various sapphire domes. Our sapphire domes have an ultra-high hardness of 9 on the Mohs scale. Through precision crystal directional growth technology, we have increased the impact strength to 5-8 times that of ordinary glass. It can withstand accidental drops or severe vibrations and reduce the cost of frequent replacement. In addition, the transmittance is >= 99%, so that the light can penetrate with almost no loss, avoiding dispersion or distortion. In addition, the sapphire dome can withstand extreme temperature differences from -50℃ to 800℃, and can maintain long-term performance stability in marine and chemical corrosive environments. We can also coat sapphire according to customer needs.

Sapphire Window Dome Applications
Sapphire domes have a wide range of applications, such as:
- Underwater and deep-sea exploration Because sapphire domes have the characteristics of high pressure resistance, corrosion resistance and full-angle vision, they can be used in underwater detectors, underwater robots, diving cameras, etc.
- In laser radar, infrared thermal imagers, and satellite sensors, sapphire domes can avoid signal interference in strong light environments and reduce light refraction distortion to ensure data accuracy
- In military and aerospace, sapphire domes are usually used in drone reconnaissance lenses and spacecraft portholes because of their impact resistance and temperature resistance.
- Because sapphire is resistant to corrosion and high temperature, it is also used in industrial endoscopes, oil and gas pipeline inspection robots, fuel cell observation ports and other equipment
