Infrared thermal imaging
In military reconnaissance or security monitoring, infrared thermal imaging needs to capture the target’s thermal radiation signal in the 2-5μm band. Silicon materials have high transmittance in this band, but the reflection loss of the uncoated silicon window surface is as high as 30%, resulting in a decrease in the imaging signal-to-noise ratio. Installing a 2000-4000nm AR-coated silicon window on the front end of the infrared camera can be used as a protective lens and optical transmission component to significantly improve the clarity of thermal imaging.

Gas sensing
Most greenhouse gases have characteristic absorption peaks in the mid-infrared band (3-4μm), and infrared spectrometers require high-transmittance windows to ensure detection sensitivity. Silicon materials have a transmittance of >50% at 3-4μm, but reflection on the bare silicon surface will cause energy loss in the optical path. This infrared window protective film can be placed at both ends of the gas chamber of the non-dispersive infrared (NDIR) sensor and used with a PbSe detector to improve the system signal-to-noise ratio

Astronomical observation
Ground-based infrared telescopes need to observe celestial radiation in the 2-5μm band, but water vapor in the atmosphere absorbs part of the band. AR2000nm-4000nm coated silicon window can be used for low temperature cooling detectors to reduce the interference of cold reflections in optical systems.
